Job Summary: To shepherd the church family of the First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles with:
- Leadership that is spirit-led, effective, and conducive to a multi-generational, multi-language congregation.
- Ability to set theological direction and ensure sound biblical doctrine for all languages and ministries.
- Preaching that is expository and evangelistic.
- A strong spiritual and disciplined consistent walk with Christ.
- Cultural sensitivity and deep understanding of language and age groups to cultivate unity while allowing individual growth.
- Vision from God to accomplish His will for the church.
- Strategic planning to carry out the unified vision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities
- To lead the entire congregation through vision casting to inspire purpose and clarity, and through gospel-centered teaching to ensure doctrinal integrity and maintain our unity as one congregation, one church with different language and age group ministries.
- To lead and supervise the Pastoral Staff as follows:
- To establish a unified church vision that aligns with the mission statement of FCBCLA that can be carried out and accomplished as one church.
- To oversee long term strategy, planning and major initiatives (e.g. church planting, building campaigns etc.).
- To build healthy staff culture and team unity.
- To lead, mentor and evaluate the Pastoral Staff in their respective ministries to fulfill the established vision, and mission statement of FCBC-LA.
- To be accountable for decisions on hiring, restructuring and dismissal.
- To oversee the Pastoral Staff in developing, interpreting, and fulfilling their responsibilities and ministries.
- To ensure training, evaluation of and ministry to the Pastoral Staff & Office Staff.
- To act as primary official church representative (Corporate President) in matters of outreach to the public, association with other Christian organizations/activities, and Southern Baptist Convention activities.
- Work with the Executive Council to help set policies, governance structure and guide budget priorities with big-picture financial strategy.
- Duties
- Oversees sermon series planning.
- Set overall teaching direction for the church across all languages.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Preach regularly and supervise the preaching pulpits for each worship.
- Oversee the teaching ministry of the church to maintain consistent teaching standards and ensure spiritual health and growth.
- Oversee the Pastoral Staff meetings, Prayer Meetings, and church-wide activities.
- Perform/Oversee annual reviews of the Pastoral Staff & Office Staff.
- Be available to perform pastoral duties for ordinances (Lord’s Supper and baptism), weddings, funerals, and other special activities, and for visitation, crises, urgencies and needs that arise for prayer and special attention.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
As a member of the pastoral staff, this position will have daily contact with the church office staff including maintenance, administrative staff members and various elected/appointed committees, as well as frequent contact with lay workers. On many occasions, members of the pastoral staff will have contact with third parties on behalf of the church. In all instances, pastoral staff members must maintain a professional and spiritual decorum in all contacts and communications (both written and oral) with all parties.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Divinity or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Ministerial experience in a North American congregation of 100 or more desirable.
- Prior experience working with different age groups is a plus.
SKILLS: Teaching, coaching, leading and preaching
CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES: Ordination is required.
WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Operate computer and standard office equipment.
- Must be able to drive to visit members and visitors as needed, as well as to attend various functions/events.
- Physically fit to perform duties normally expected of a pastor.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The senior pastor is accountable to the Executive Council and the members of First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles.
Salary: $120,000 to $145,000 annually + 403(b) with employer match + medical, dental, vision + PTO

Job Summary: Director of Children’s Ministry will lead and oversee the Children’s Ministry (birth to grade 5) within the scope of the overall church vision as set forth by the Senior Pastoral Team. The director will advance the Children’s Ministry by leveraging knowledge and experience in administration, education, and childhood development. With the collaborative efforts of the volunteers, parents, and the pastoral staff, the director oversees effective ministry for the spiritual growth of the children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Create and communicate a clear vision, strategy, and development for all children’s ministries based on FCBCLA’s mission and vision
2. Create and foster a healthy ministry environment among volunteer workers and parents
3. Communicate with ministry volunteers and parents
4. Identify and develop gifted leaders for expansion of ministry and future roles
5. Oversee all aspects of the ministry with the support of the Children’s Ministry team
6. Recruit, screen, train, and supervise ministry leaders and other volunteers
7. Create and effectively manage a budget that aligns with mission/vision
8. Ensure the safety and security of our children during church activities and events by implementing all the appropriate policies and procedures
9. Provide correction to children when necessary, and resolve any conflicts between volunteers
10. Work with others to create and/or oversee programming such as Children’s Worship, Sunday School, fellowship, educational/equipping events, camp, Vacation Bible School, local outreach, and missions

Job Summary:
The Children’s Lead Instructor will work under the Director of Children’s Ministry to plan and deliver Sunday worship messages, develop curriculum, develop and train staff in teaching methods, teach in Sunday Schools, and to be knowledgeable in childhood development. S/He will also partner with other groups (e.g., camp, family ministries, etc.) to provide or review appropriate instructional materials as requested.
Delegated Authority: Children’s Ministry Instructional Staff
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach and coordinate Bible messages/lessons in Worship, Sunday School or other activities, promoting scripture memorization, prayer, and personal Bible reading
2. Be responsible to select, develop and evaluate all children ministry curriculum and programs
